I’m gonna start with a thank you. To you, for taking a few moments of your day and spending them with me. I appreciate every minute, and always will. It’s just the way I am … grateful for your time and support. So thanks, let’s get to it.
84% Of Marketers To Shift Portion Of Budget To Social Media
Last week, Andy Beal of Marketing Pilgrim, reported on the 7th annual industry survey by Alterian. The report signaled an increase in spending by marketers on social media. For a new media marketing agency like us, that’s good news. That said, if you are one of those marketers just starting out, I urge you not to rush into your social media initiative, and start with the fundamentals.
There is nothing different about social media marketing than any other new initiative. Success is based on your early planning, goal setting, and resource assessment. If you’ve skipped this important step and now have a Facebook Fan Page, a Twitter account, and a LinkedIn group and are left wondering what to do next – I say this in the nicest possible way – you’ve put the cart before the horse. You’ve started with the tools not a blueprint.
Step back, get your team together, and define the business outcomes you are looking to achieve. Start by doing a bit of research to learn what social networks your customers are using. Check out your competitors and what they are doing. Only after this initial planning and strategy development phase, do I suggest moving forward, developing the how-to tactics, and using the tools.
If you are stuck, have questions, or are just looking for someone to bounce ideas off, we’re always available to chat. Give us a call [267-362-9835] or email and we’ll see what we can do to help.

Avatar
As a final note, I saw Avatar yesterday afternoon with my father-in-law. Overall, I’m giving it 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. It got me thinking. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we all could get into one of those beds, and have our marketing transformed into a super-powered, inter-connected network that delivered the right message to the right customer at the exact right time?
Well, unfortunately those beds don’t exist, but perhaps that’s the promise of content marketing and social media. Deliver the right message, in the right channel, at the right time. Now that would be – out of this world! (Ha! – I couldn’t resist.)
Have an awesome week! You can be sure I will be.
